I swore a $60 sunrise alarm clock was a scam until my phone habit got so bad I tried one
I used to scroll TikTok in bed for like an hour every night and my sleep was a mess, so I finally bought one of those little alarm clocks that slowly lights up orange over 30 minutes. The first few nights I honestly hated it and almost sent it back, but by night five I noticed I was falling asleep before the light even hit full brightness. The big thing was moving my phone charger to the kitchen counter, so the clock became my only option for checking the time. Now I read for ten minutes by the light and I'm out, which never happened when my screen was two inches from my face. Did anyone else have to physically banish their phone from the bedroom to make this work, or did you find a trick that didn't need a whole new gadget?
The light itself might not be doing as much as you think. What probably fixed your sleep was ditching the phone and the TikTok scroll, since that blue light and the endless feed keep your brain wired way past when you meant to crash. The clock just made it easier because you had a reason to leave the phone in the kitchen instead of on your nightstand. So the gadget is more of a fancy excuse to change the habit, which is still a win, but you could probably get the same result with a dumb $8 clock and the same charger rule. Not trying to rain on it, just saying the $60 part and the part that actually worked might be two different things.
