Just learned 90 percent of my screen time happens after 10pm

I was scrolling through my phone settings last night trying to figure out why my battery kept dying so fast. Found the screen time breakdown thing I never look at. Turns out I average 3 hours on my phone between 10pm and 1am every single night. That blew my mind because I always thought I just checked a few things before bed. Most of that time is on Reddit and YouTube watching cooking videos or old concert footage. I guess the lights go out and I just zone out without realizing how long I've been at it. Has anyone else checked their late night usage and been surprised by the numbers?

Hitting the graveyard shift myself, I ended up installing one of those app timers that cuts me off after 30 minutes past midnight. Now I just plug my phone in across the room a whole hour before bed.

Oh man, I don't know @noaht15, isn't that kind of overkill? I mean, I get needing to wind down but having an app cut you off like you're a kid with a curfew feels a little extreme to me. Sometimes I'll scroll through old photos or a random wiki rabbit hole for like five minutes before I pass out and it never keeps me up that long. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather just close the phone myself when I feel tired instead of fighting with a timer. Plus what if you actually need to make a call or text someone back and the phone is all the way across the room that sounds like a hassle.

Yeah @noaht15, that app timer trick is clutch for actually sticking to it. I tried that once and it worked too well, had to delete the timer so I could finish a text. Plugging the phone across the room is the real MVP move here though.
