My sister called me out on my bedtime scrolling habit last week

She said I was using my phone to avoid my own thoughts, not to wind down. I got defensive at first but then I counted - I was spending 45 minutes a night flipping between three apps with nothing to show for it. She told me she keeps a notebook by her bed and writes down three things she noticed that day before she even touches her phone. That conversation hit different because she wasn't being judgmental, she was just pointing out a pattern I hadn't seen. I tried her notebook thing for four nights now and I've fallen asleep faster each time. Has anyone else had someone close to them notice something about your phone habits that you were blind to?

Man, that's wild because I had a friend who went through almost the exact same thing. Her sister flat out told her she looked "depressed but distracted" when she was scrolling, and my friend got super offended at first too. Then she realized she was using her phone to numb herself out instead of actually relaxing. Now she keeps a puzzle book on her nightstand instead of her phone and says it quiets her brain way better. It's funny how someone else can see a pattern you've been blind to for months.
