My sister said my bedtime phone scrolling was the reason I couldn't sleep, so I quit cold turkey for 30 nights
I used to swear by watching trivia videos on my phone in bed to wind down, but my sister called me out after I stayed at her place in Boise back in March. She said the blue light and the constant swipe was the problem, not the solution, and honestly she was right because I tossed and turned for two hours that first night without it. So I swapped to just laying there with a cheap clip on reading light and a paper book, and within about 10 nights I was out in under 20 minutes. Now I want to know if anyone else had to fully ditch the phone, or did switching to a dark mode podcast app actually work for you?
Tried the podcast thing for like a week and it just made me stay up longer because I kept picking new episodes instead of sleeping. What finally worked was something totally random, my kid left a stack of old comic books in my room and I started reading those instead of my phone. Took me like two weeks but now I'm out way faster than before. My wife still scrolls in bed every night though and swears it helps her wind down, so I guess it just hits people different. The book thing only works if it's stuff I don't get too hooked on, because one time I read a whole thriller in one sitting and saw the sun come up.
