PSA: My phone's dark mode made me sleep worse for a month

I was scrolling through Reddit in bed every night with dark mode on, thinking it was helping me wind down. Last week I went to a sleep clinic in Portland for a different issue and the doctor said blue light filters don't matter much if you're still looking at a bright screen. So I started using the phone's bedtime mode that actually dims everything to warm oranges and grays. Now I'm out cold in 10 minutes instead of an hour. Has anyone else tried turning brightness way down with a red filter at night?

Did you notice any difference in how rested you felt after switching? I ask because @ray_campbell46 mentioned a red screen app, and that reminded me of something weird that happened to me last winter. I tried one of those blue light glasses for a few weeks, and I swear I started dreaming in sepia tones. It was bizarre, like my brain got confused with the color shift. I stopped wearing them because I missed having colorful dreams, even the scary ones.

Red filters sounded gimmicky to me before but this convinced me to try it tonight.
