Used to scroll Reddit for 2 hours before bed every night.
I'd just lay there thumbing through random posts until my eyes burned and it was 2am. Then last month my doctor said my sleep test showed I was barely getting any deep rest because of screen time. Has anyone else had to totally ditch their phone wind down routine and find a better way to doze off?

My buddy Kevin was basically glued to his phone until 3am every night, scrolling through memes and drama on Twitter. Finally his girlfriend got sick of it and started reading him chapters from a fantasy audiobook instead. Now they do that for 30 minutes every night and he says it knocks him out instantly, no phone in sight. It's a pretty simple swap but it seems to work for him.

Wait, is that actually a swap though? Audiobooks are still screen time technically, just audio only. I mean, it's probably way better because staring at a bright screen at 3am is terrible for sleep cycles, but the act itself is still media consumption. His girlfriend is basically getting him to trade one digital habit for another. If they were reading a physical book, yeah that's a clear win. But a fantasy audiobook is still sound waves from a device, you know? The real change is probably just the 30 minute window and the comfort of having her read to him.
