Vent: Used to scroll Reddit for hours before bed now I just stare at my ceiling
Last year I could spend a solid 90 minutes doomscrolling through AITA threads before passing out, but since I switched to night shift three months ago my brain just goes blank. Now I lay there with my phone unlocked on the home screen and zero energy to actually open anything. Anyone else lose their whole bedtime routine after a schedule change?

Isn't it wild how your body just decides for you sometimes? I've noticed once your routine gets flipped, your brain kind of hits the reset button on what it even wants to do in those quiet moments.

My cousin literally takes the same 20 minute walk every morning at 6am no matter what, even on vacation. She says if she misses it her whole day feels off and she can't focus on anything until she does it. I mean idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like having that kind of rigid routine actually makes it harder when life does throw you a curveball. You end up so dependent on the structure that when it breaks you're totally lost instead of being able to just roll with whatever happens.

That thing about the brain hitting reset really hits home. I've noticed so many people, myself included, get into these little ruts where we just do the same thing without thinking, but then when something actually changes we're surprised at what we end up gravitating toward. Ever notice how breaking the pattern even just once can show you what you actually miss versus what was just habit?
