Hot take: a guy at a race in Tulsa said my cable cuts were garbage and he was right
I built wheels and wrenched for 6 seasons and always snipped cables with the cheap park tool cutter, then mashed the end flat with pliers. A mechanic named Dale watched me do it outside Tulsa last spring and said "that fray is gonna snag a jersey someday" and honestly he nailed it, I had already seen two riders catch cables on their gloves that month. He showed me his trick, wrap the cut with electrical tape first, cut through the tape, then hit the end with a drop of super glue instead of crushing it with pliers. Took me maybe 10 extra seconds per cable and I have not had a single frayed end in 14 months. Anyone else tape their cuts or do you have a better way to keep cable ends clean?

Did it sting when he said it or were you just glad someone finally told you? Getting called out mid-race sucks but at least Dale gave you a fix on the spot instead of just talking trash behind your back. That tape trick is solid and I feel you on never wanting to see another frayed end again.
