Hydraulic brakes took a while to win me over
I spent a decade swearing by mechanical discs on my touring bike, figured they were simpler and easier to fix on the road. Then I borrowed a buddy's gravel bike with hydraulics for a 200 mile trip through Vermont and hit three days of steady rain and mud. The stopping power never faded once, while my old setup would've been squealing by mile 40, so has anyone else been converted after a long ride? I mean, I still carry a spare cable and housing for my mech brakes at home, but idk if I'd go back.

That rainy Vermont trip would do it for anyone honestly... wet conditions just expose the limits of mechanical brakes so fast. Glad you got to experience the difference without having to commit your whole touring setup to the change.
