Just found out factory torque specs are often wrong for alloy steerer tubes

Was reading through a technical bulletin on the Park Tool blog from 3 years ago and it said some carbon steerer tube failures trace back to using the OEM torque values meant for aluminum. I always just followed the sticker on the fork, but apparently that can over-compress the carbon. Anyone else double check torque specs against the manufacturer's actual published chart?

dude yes this is a real thing. i wrecked a brand new enve fork last year because I just torqued the stem bolts to the number printed on the steerer tube. ended up with a crack right where the stem clamp sits. turns out enve's actual online chart for that model was a good 1.5nm lower than what was printed on the fork itself. cost me a whole new fork and a bad crash. now i check the manufacturer website every single time before i touch a torque wrench on anything carbon.

ngl I now treat torque specs like a suspicious email from my boss. Double check everything or risk a very expensive faceplant.
