Just realized my torque wrench was the reason for all those stripped bolts
So I've been doing bike builds for about 5 years now, mostly for friends and a few paying gigs here in Austin. Last Tuesday I was installing a new crankset and stripped yet another bolt, the third one that week. I kept blaming the cheap bolts, yelling at the parts, the whole thing. Then I borrowed my buddy's snap-on torque wrench instead of my old beam style one and what do you know, every bolt went in perfect. I looked up the calibration specs on my old wrench online and it was off by like 40 percent after all the drops and misuse. Has anyone else had a torque wrench go bad on them without any obvious signs, or am I just the last one to figure this out?

Replaced my beam style after 3 years of drops and it was off too, check it yearly or toss it.
