Missed the loose crank arm for weeks, tightened it and the creak stopped.

Read that most bike creaks are just something loose. Happens to the best of us, easy fix once you find it.

My bottom bracket's been creaking for three months and I still can't find the loose part. Really easy fix, huh.

Yeah the "easy fix" line got me too. I used to think every creak was just a loose bolt until my own bike drove me crazy. Turns out it was the pedals, not the bottom bracket at all. Now I check EVERYTHING, even the seat post. Sometimes the noise just travels and tricks you.
