Vinegar and baking soda cut through brake dust like nothing else.

You're using vinegar and baking soda on bike parts? That seems like a weird mix for cleaning. Does it actually work without messing anything up?

Absolutely, it works wonders on bike parts! @susan_wright34 mentioned the rinsing part, which is super important. I've cleaned my chainrings with that mix and they looked brand new. It's also safe on paint if you don't let it sit too long. For stubborn grease on derailleurs, a paste of baking soda and vinegar breaks it down fast. Just make sure to dry everything after rinsing to prevent water spots.

Oh totally, it works way better than I thought it would. I used that mix on my chain and gears last week and it cut through the grime without any weird leftover film. You just have to rinse it super well so the vinegar doesn't sit on the metal. Maybe it's just me but I feel like it even helps stop some surface rust?
