Picked up a used Park Tool truing stand for $40 and it changed my wheel builds

I scored that old Park Tool TS-2 off Craigslist last Saturday from a guy in Denver who was cleaning out his garage. He said it was his dad's from the 80s and it just needed a new set of indicator rods. I spent about an hour cleaning off the rust and greasing the adjustment threads, and now it works like a charm. For years I was just using a zip tie and the frame brake to true wheels, and I never realized how much flex I was introducing. My first wheel on this stand came out way rounder and truer than anything I've done before. Anyone else run into a great deal on used shop tools that just needed a little TLC?

Buddy of mine swore by his collapsible stand for months. Then one day he set it up in his garage, the whole thing wobbled sideways, and his wheel took a nasty tumble onto concrete. He's back to bolting it to a solid desk now.
