Pro tip: chased a clicking bottom bracket for 3 hours, it was the pedal
Had a bike come in Tuesday with a click that only showed up under hard pedaling. I pulled the crank, greased the spindle, torqued it to spec, and the click was still there. Turned out the right pedal body had a hairline crack near the axle, and the owner swapped pedals off his other bike at some point. I keep a cheap set of test pedals on the bench now just for this. How do you all rule out pedals before tearing into the bottom bracket?
