Spent $80 on a fancy chain cleaner tool and it barely works better than a old toothbrush

Bought that Park Tool chain scrubber thing last month and after three tries my drivetrain still had grit stuck everywhere. Had to strip it down and clean it by hand anyway - anyone else find these plastic cleaners are more trouble than they're worth?

Spent fifty bucks on a fancy bike degreaser and used a dollar store brush instead.
