Finally finished that show everyone talked about three years ago
I started it last month and just watched the final episode in my living room last night. Has anyone else had a show they were late to that completely sucked them in?

Honestly I just got into Breaking Bad last year, I mean everyone had already moved on to talking about Better Call Saul. I read this article about how it was a slow burn and I was skeptical, but once I started I couldn't stop. It totally took over my life for like two weeks, I was watching it every night after work. I was so late to it but it felt cool to just enjoy it without all the online hype.

Got into The Wire about five years after it ended. The weird part was watching it alone, with no one to talk to about it, so I started reading old episode recaps and forum posts from when it aired. It felt like digging through a time capsule, seeing people's guesses about where the story was going, knowing how it all actually turned out. That added a whole other layer to the experience that you just don't get when you're watching something as it comes out.

People get way too intense about catching up on old shows. It's just entertainment, not some deep cultural artifact. Reading old forum posts for a TV show sounds like homework, not fun. You can enjoy something without turning it into a whole research project.
