I can't believe how many people love the final season of The Wire

I was at a watch party in Austin last month and everyone was raving about season 5, saying it was a perfect ending. I sat there biting my tongue through the whole McNulty serial killer plot, just thinking how ridiculous and forced it felt compared to the earlier seasons. Am I the only one who thinks they jumped the shark with that fake serial killer storyline?

Oh man, you'd think so right? My buddy Mike swore up and down it was the final season too until his girlfriend pulled up the episode list on her phone and proved him wrong. He was so sure he'd bet her twenty bucks on it, had to pay up and everything.

Did I miss the memo where we all decided the fake serial killer plot was GENIUS, or did I just have my "jump the shark" goggles on too tight? I spent a whole party arguing about it like a lunatic, only to realize later half the people there thought I was talking about a different show entirely.
