I picked the gritty 90s crime drama over the shiny new Netflix series
Been seeing everyone hype up that new show about billionaire hackers but I chose to rewatch The Wire instead. 5 seasons in 2 weeks and honestly no regrets, the dialogue just hits different. Anyone else find themselves skipping the hype and going back to older shows?

The first time I watched The Wire I binged all 4 seasons in like 10 days and my sleep schedule was destroyed lol. Season 4 with the school system arc is probably the best TV writing I've ever seen, those kids are still stuck in my head years later. My advice is to just trust your gut with older shows, the hype train is almost always louder than the actual quality. Plus you can watch The Wire at your own pace without worrying about spoilers or cliffhangers every week, that alone makes it worth skipping the new stuff.

Never really got the hype until I watched season 4 myself, now I get it completely.
