My nephew asked me what a 'water cooler show' was and it threw me for a loop
I was talking to my 14-year-old nephew last week about the new season of his favorite show. He said he and his friends just watch it whenever and text about it. I mentioned it used to be a big 'water cooler show' and he just stared at me blankly. I had to explain that people used to watch the same thing at the same time and talk about it at work the next day. It hit me that for him, the whole idea of a shared weekly event is totally gone. Everything is just a personal binge now. Do you think we lost something good with that, or is it just different?

Yeah the algorithm's just showing everyone their own little bubble and calling it news.
