My sister said my show picks were all the same mood and she had a point
I was telling her about my plan to watch 'The Bear' after finishing 'Succession' and she just said, 'Linda, you're going to need a hug after all that yelling.' I realized I'd been stuck in a cycle of high-stress dramas for months. So last week, I made myself watch 'Our Flag Means Death' as a palette cleanser. It was so silly and good, and now I'm mixing in a comedy after every heavy series. Has anyone else gotten stuck in a genre rut and found a show that pulled you out?

It's funny how we do that with more than just TV... get stuck in one kind of music or even the same takeout order for weeks. Your brain just wants the same hit. Forcing a switch feels weird at first, but then it's like a reset. Good on you for catching it.

My record was listening to the same Fleetwood Mac album for three months straight. It got to the point where my roommate hid my phone charger. Finally tried a synthwave playlist and it was like cleaning my ears.

Totally. I had a solid six month stretch where I only listened to 90s alt rock playlists. Same five bands on repeat. Made myself put on some jazz last week and it was like my ears woke up from a nap. Even my lunch order, man. Ate the same turkey club from the deli down the street every single day until I got sick of it. Breaking the loop is tough but it feels good after.
