People are starting that new show at the wrong episode
I keep seeing posts where people say they started 'Severance' from the pilot. That's a mistake. The first real hook is the last 15 minutes of episode 2, the 'MDR' scene. I watched it with three friends and two almost quit after the slow first episode. We pushed to episode 2 and the whole mood changed. Has anyone else found a show where the starting point is totally wrong?

Wait, is it really that big of a deal? Some shows just take a minute to get going. Like, the first episode of Parks and Rec is famously rough, but you still start there to meet everyone. If a show needs you to skip its own beginning, maybe it's just not that good at the start.

Severance's first episode is only 45 minutes, so it's not exactly a huge commitment.
