PSA: I spent 3 hours trying to figure out the best watch order for that show with the prequel series

I kept bouncing between websites and fan wikis before just watching it in release order, which was fine. Has anyone else wasted a whole evening on this?

I used to be a total timeline order purist for the Star Wars movies. I'd make my friends watch episodes one through three first, which honestly killed the whole Vader reveal. After doing that a few times, I realized release order just works better for how the story was meant to unfold. The prequels assume you already know where the whole thing is headed. Now I just go by the date it came out and save myself the headache.

Totally get that, forcing someone through the prequels first is a real rookie move. It ruins the big twist and honestly makes the original trilogy feel less special, like you're just watching backstory. The prequels are packed with little nods and dramatic irony that only land if you've seen the older movies. Release order just builds the universe in a way that makes sense, letting the story unfold as it was originally told.

But @hugo_cooper43, what about the people who say the prequels' politics are too confusing without the original trilogy's context?
