PSA: Picked 'The Wire' over 'Breaking Bad' for my last rewatch

Last month I had two weeks off and couldn't decide which show to sink into again. I went with The Wire even though Breaking Bad was right there on my list. Man, that show holds up so well - the street level stuff in Baltimore still feels real and raw. I forgot how slow season 2 starts though, almost lost me around episode 3. Has anyone else gone back to a classic and found one season way weaker than you remembered?

Season 2 gets a bad rap but the docks stuff is actually pretty good once it gets going. You're right that it drags at first though, the whole Sobotka thing takes a minute to click.

Wait, you actually liked the docks stuff? I thought I was the only one who sat through that whole Sobotka storyline thinking it was just setting up for something better. The first few episodes felt like they were about a completely different show. Once you get past the whole union politics and the shipping containers, it does start to tie back into the bigger picture. But man, that slow burn almost lost me. I remember telling my husband we should just skip to season 3.
