Shoutout to the person who told me to stick with Broadchurch past episode 1

I almost quit Broadchurch after the first episode because it felt so slow and moody. But someone on here said the payoff in episode 3 is worth it so I kept going. Totally right - the second half of season 1 had me up until 2 AM two nights in a row. Has anyone else almost dropped a show early but ended up loving it after pushing through?

Oh I read this whole thing about how the creator of Broadstreet actually wrote it as a 10 hour movie and the slow build was very intentional. Once I heard that I started paying more attention to all the little details in the first episode and it completely changed how I saw it. I almost dropped The Leftovers after the first three episodes because it felt like weird nonsense but I kept seeing people rave about it online and I am so glad I stuck it out because that show wrecked me in the best way. Same thing happened with Dark on Netflix, the first couple episodes are confusing as hell with all the timelines but once it clicks it is genuinely one of the best shows ever made. Sometimes you just have to trust the people who have been through it.

Is Broadstreet the one with the detective who wears that beat up leather jacket? I thought that was a different show, maybe I'm mixing them up. @stellanelson, I think you're right about The Leftovers though, that show really does take its time to pay off. I almost bailed on it too but stuck around because my buddy kept telling me to trust him, and by the end I was a mess.
