That week I tried to marathon a 10 season show in 5 days nearly broke me

Last month I decided to binge "The Walking Dead" from start to finish during my vacation. I figured 10 seasons would be easy since I had nothing else going on. By day 3 I was up until 3am every night, my eyes were bloodshot, and I started dreaming about zombies. I actually called in sick to work on Thursday because I couldn't face another 8 hour shift after only 4 hours of sleep. The worst part was when I realized I still had 4 more seasons to go and my vacation ended Sunday. Has anyone else ever bit off more than they could chew with a binge and regretted it?

The 12 hours of sleep I lost across those 5 days was a personal choice for sure but I think you're missing the point a bit. Sometimes you get so caught up in a story that your brain just won't let you stop, even when your body is screaming for rest. It's not about blaming work, it's about admitting that I made a dumb decision and paid for it with a zombie-filled sleep schedule. Calling in sick felt like the only way to catch up on rest without wasting my remaining vacation hours on sleeping. I don't think anyone who binges like that is trying to blame their job, they're just sharing how ridiculous their own choices got. We all know we could watch slower, but where's the fun in admitting we don't have self control sometimes?

I actually called in sick to work" - that's where you lost me. You chose to stay up until 3am watching TV and then blamed work for being tired. If you can't handle the pace, just watch two episodes a night instead of turning your vacation into a miserable marathon.

Oh man, my friend did the exact same thing with Game of Thrones last year... she binged all 8 seasons in a week and ended up falling asleep at her desk on a Tuesday. Boss found her drooling on a report and she had to make up some excuse about a power outage keeping her awake. She swore she'd never binge watch again, but I saw her starting House of the Dragon the next weekend.
