Warning: I wasted 3 weekends binging The Walking Dead before someone told me to skip to Breaking Bad

I kept hearing about The Walking Dead being this huge must-watch show, so I started it last month. I forced myself through the first 3 seasons thinking it would get better. The pacing is just so slow, you know? So many episodes where nothing happens, just walking around and talking. A buddy at my shop finally told me to drop it and try Breaking Bad instead. I was skeptical but gave it a shot last Friday night, and holy cow the difference is night and day. Breaking Bad hooks you from the first episode, every scene matters, and the characters actually grow. My only regret is the 30 hours I lost on zombies when I could have been watching Walter White cook. Has anyone else fallen for a popular show that turned out to be a total time sink?

Has anyone ever stuck with a show purely out of spite, hoping it'd finally get good? I did that with Lost back in the day. I mean, I watched like four seasons waiting for those dumb polar bears to pay off, and by the end I was just mad at myself.

Lost totally got me too, @patricialee - I held on for way too many seasons hoping those mysteries would actually mean something. At least Breaking Bad respects your time instead of dangling weird polar bears in front of you.

Oh yeah, I lasted 4 seasons of Lost too, waiting for those polar bears to pay off. At least Breaking Bad knows how to reward your patience instead of just making you feel like a fool. That show actually understands wasting 30 hours on bad TV is offensive when good TV is right there.
