Why did it take me 3 weekends to find a show we both like?

My wife and I kept scrolling for an hour every Friday until I tracked our picks in a notes app, turns out we'd vetoed 14 shows before finally landing on one. Has anyone else had to build a whole log just to agree on a binge?

14 shows vetoed in 3 weekends sounds about right, but here's my real question: did you two actually agree on what you wanted from the start, or was it more like you each just knew what you didn't want? My girlfriend and I had the same thing happen, we kept passing on stuff until I finally asked her if she cared more about the plot or the actors. Turns out she hates slow burns and I hate shows with too much talking, so we ended up landing on a dumb action flick we both could laugh at. That notes app thing is smart though, I bet you could turn it into a game where whoever picks the most vetoed shows buys the snacks next Friday.

The "whoever picks the most vetoed shows buys snacks" idea is genius, @milesbailey. For us, the trick was giving up on finding something we both loved and instead picking shows that were short, like 6 episodes max, so even if one of us wasn't into it, we knew it wouldn't drag on. We also started taking turns picking every other Friday, no vetoes allowed, just a promise to watch at least two episodes before saying anything. It cut our scrolling time way down and we actually found a few hidden gems that way, even a dumb action flick we both laughed at.
