Dropped $180 on a hydraulic press attachment for my anvil and it just sits there
Saw a demo at a hammer-in near Abilene and figured it would speed up my damascus billets, but it walks all over the shop floor and I still reach for my hand hammer. Anyone want to trade a decent belt grinder for a glorified paperweight?
Bolted mine to a 55 gallon drum full of concrete and that stopped most of the walking. The bigger fix was getting the dies set right, because once I got good contact the thing actually pushed metal instead of dancing around. Also check your floor, mine wandered way less after I swept up all the scale and grit. Give it a month before you trade it off, I almost sold mine twice and now I use it on every billet. You still need the hand hammer for finish work, so it was never going to replace that part.
