Just realized I've made over 500 of the same basic S-hook this year...
It's wild how that simple, boring task has paid for my new belt grinder and half my steel for the last six months, but man, I'm starting to see them in my sleep... anyone else get stuck in a production rut that just pays the bills?

500 hooks in a year and you're seeing them in your sleep? That's a bit dramatic, it's just an S-hook.

Yeah I gotta side with @blair_martin on this one, 500 hooks over a whole year doesn't sound like something that'd haunt your dreams unless you're really dragging it out. Maybe just crank out a batch every weekend if it's getting to you that bad.

Wait, have you ever actually worked with cheap metal hooks for that long though? I totally get where the OP is coming from because I've had projects that just wore me down. Not with hooks specifically, but I did a big batch of cabinet pulls last year and after about 200 I was dreaming about those stupid things. It's not about the total number, it's about how repetitive and mindless the task feels. Some people can zone out with a podcast and crank them out no problem, but for others it's like mental sandpaper. I don't think it's dramatic at all to have a project stick with you like that.
