My 1,000th hand forged nail came off the anvil last Tuesday and I almost did not notice

I was working through a bucket of 3/8 inch round stock in my garage shop here in Ames when I counted the finished nails and hit 1,000 exactly. It took me about 14 months of odd evenings to get there, and the strange part is nail number 1,000 looked almost the same as number 40. What surprised me was how much faster my heat control got without me really trying, maybe 6 seconds a nail now instead of 20. How many of you keep a count of anything you forge, or do you just toss it all in a bucket and move on?
