My kid's history teacher said 'every blacksmith just made nails' and I had to bite my tongue.

It made me realize how much our craft's quiet, essential work gets boiled down to a single, simple task in the public mind, so what's the most surprisingly complex or beautiful thing you've made that started from a basic, 'boring' skill like drawing out stock?

That teacher's comment is wild. What's the most intricate thing you've drawn out from a simple bar?

Honestly, that teacher's take is just wrong on so many levels. @bennett.jana, what was the hardest part of drawing out the material for your most complex piece? Tbh, the skill in the setup and planning is what most people never even see.

My last complex piece took 3 hours just to draw out the ice. Felix is right, the setup is a silent killer.
