Switched from coal to propane for my forge last month and the difference surprised me

I always thought coal was the only real way to get good heat control, but that propane setup gave me a cleaner weld on my first try and now I'm wondering if I wasted years fighting with clinkers.

Man that first clean weld on propane is a real eye opener. I had the same moment a couple years back and it felt almost too easy after messing with coal for so long. The lack of clinkers alone was worth the switch for me, but the heat control is just so much more forgiving. It honestly made me feel a little silly for not trying it sooner. Glad you're having a good experience with it too.

Lack of clinkers alone" haha man that hits home. I felt like an idiot staring at my first propane weld wondering why I'd been fighting with coal for so long just for the romance of it.

Wait wait wait... you got a cleaner weld FIRST TRY with propane? After years of coal? That's wild. I've seen guys swear by coal forever but that's making me rethink everything.
