Warning: I just found out how much a real suit of plate armor weighs

I was watching a doc on medieval knights and they said a full set could be 45 to 55 pounds. That's like wearing a small kid on your whole body. I always pictured it being way heavier, like over 100 pounds, because it looks so solid. Makes you think about the skill needed to move and fight in that, let alone forge it. Has anyone here ever tried to make a piece of real armor, not just decorative?

A nasal guard took six tries? That's wild. I figured the big pieces like the chest plate would be the hard part, not a little face bar.

Tried a helmet once, the hammer work is harder than it looks.

Yeah, the hammer work is no joke. My buddy tried making a simple nasal guard for a helmet and ended up with a piece of metal that looked like a crushed soda can. He said getting the curve right without putting a hole in it or making it wavy took him like six tries. He was so mad he almost threw his rounding hammer into the woods.
