Can we talk about the obsession with heavy board games?

I was at a meetup last Saturday and overheard a guy say 'if it's not a 4 hour game, it's not worth playing.' That struck me as odd because some of my best nights have been with lighter games like Splendor or Codenames. Am I missing something or do people just like the bragging rights more than the fun?

Doesn't it feel way more satisfying than dropping 80 hours into something and still having half the map unexplored? I think tight games respect your time more and leave you wanting to play again instead of just being relieved it's over. Short games make every moment count and that feeling of finishing strong is honestly underrated.
