Catan trade chaos taught me a quick fix.
My friend kept offering wood for sheep when he had none. Now I drop a red cube next to resources actually for trade. How do you stop confusing deals?

Put your trade card face up in front of you. We had the same problem with sneaky offers until we made that a rule. Seeing the actual card stops the arguing before it even starts.

Our group uses a three word call system. When you're ready to trade, you say "trading post open" and point at the resource cards on the table. It forces a visual check and stops those fast, fake offers before they happen.
