Finally got my first win in a heavy euro game after 8 tries

I've been playing 'Gaia Project' with my group every other Saturday for like 4 months. Last night I somehow pulled off a win with 147 points by focusing on the Gleens faction and grabbing a tech tile nobody wanted. I figured out that rushing the navigation track early opened up way more planets than I expected. Has anyone else found a faction that clicked after you'd written them off?

Oh man that's awesome, congrats on the win! I had the same thing happen with the Itars in Terra Mystica - wrote them off as too complicated with the shipping stuff, but one night I just went all in on the Dwellings and suddenly it clicked. The navigation track thing is huge, I did the same in Gaia Project with the Xenos once and it totally changed how I looked at the game because I could grab those remote planets nobody else wanted. Feels good when a faction finally makes sense after you've been banging your head against it.

Are we really acting like mastering a board game faction is some deep life revelation? It's plastic pieces and cardboard, not a philosophy degree.
