Hot take: dice trays are overrated unless you play on a rock table

My buddy Jake swore I'd never go back after he bought me a $35 neoprene tray for my birthday. I used it twice at our Tuesday night Gloomhaven session and honestly it just ate table space and made it harder to pass dice around. Sold it on FB Marketplace for $15 and went back to rolling on the wooden table, no complaints. Anyone else ditch their tray after the hype died?

Jake bought me the same $35 tray for my birthday too, but mine came with a little wooden lip that I knocked over and spilled dice everywhere the first night. I kept it for like six months out of guilt before realizing it was just a fancy bowl for Cheetos dust. Rolling straight on the table is faster and honestly the sound of dice hitting wood is half the fun.
