I thought legacy games were a gimmick until my group hit session 6
Pandemic Legacy sat in my closet for 8 months because I figured stickers and destroying cards was just a marketing gimmick. Finally dragged it out last Tuesday with three buddies and by the third loss we were all arguing over city placements like it was real life. The moment that sold me was when we opened the first sealed box and our failed decisions from previous sessions were literally written on the board. Now I get why people schedule entire weekends around this thing. Has anyone else gone from hating the idea of permanent changes to loving a legacy campaign? I need suggestions for what to try next before we finish.

Man, that sealed box moment got me... because that's exactly what hooked me too. We opened ours after a string of losses and saw "Don't trust the captain" scratched in permanent marker next to a city name, and I just sat there staring at it like we'd actually been through something. For months I was convinced the whole genre was just a way to make you buy more stuff, but now I'm the guy checking eBay for used copies of other campaigns. The permanence thing is wild once you stop fighting it and realize the game is tracking your group's dumb choices, not punishing you. We're already planning a weekend for Gloomhaven after we finish, but I'm lowkey terrified we'll never get that same feeling again.
