Just realized my game group's 'take that' ban is why our shelf keeps shrinking
At our Thursday meetup in Reno last week, a guy pulled out Munchkin and three people audibly groaned before he even opened the box. I used to think heavy conflict games built character, but watching that table deflate made me wonder if we're just curating for comfort instead of actual fun. Anyone else's group split down the middle on whether player conflict belongs at the table?
My buddy's group banned Munchkin after one guy backstabbed everyone and won, but then they got bored of co-op games and actually missed the drama. Now they play with a rule that you can stab people but you have to be funny about it.
