Just realized playing the app version of a board game first made me way worse at the table version
Last month our group in Austin tried Cascadia on the app before playing the real copy, and I walked in thinking I knew the game cold. Turns out the app does all the scoring for you, so I never learned how the habitat bonuses actually add up. When we played the physical copy, I placed my last three tiles wrong and lost by 14 points to a guy who had never touched the app. The rules clicking in your own head is the whole game, and the app quietly steals that from you. Has anyone else noticed that learning on an app sets you up to fail at the table?
