My buddy Tom swore I was over-sleeving my deck cards
Tom told me last year that using those thick penny sleeves on my board game cards would make them impossible to shuffle... I laughed it off until I tried to play Dominion with my girlfriend and the deck was almost 4 inches tall. Has anyone else had a friend give you advice about card protection that totally backfired?

A buddy of mine once told me that storing dice in a velvet bag would keep them from chipping. So I got this really nice bag, poured my entire set of polyhedral dice in there, and next time we played D&D I pulled out a bunch of flakes like I'd stored cheese graters with them. Turns out some dice just hate each other. Now I keep my precious metal dice wrapped in tissues in a tackle box.

Four inches is a bit much but who cares, you’re protecting the cards not trying to win a magic trick contest. Just double sleeve the important ones and call it a day.

Double sleeving the important ones is the way to go. I keep a stack of perfect fits just for my pricier cards and never worry about them anymore.
