Rant: My favorite board game group just fell apart
Our weekly game night at the library in town had 8 regulars for over a year, but last month 4 people moved away or changed jobs. I tried to recruit new players from a local meetup app, but only 1 person showed up and they left after 30 minutes. Has anyone else had a steady group just dissolve on them like that?

8 regulars down to 4 in a month, that's rough buddy.

@bell.felix said "rough buddy" but honestly the real killer is how fast it happens. One week everyone's hyped for the next session, next week half the group is gone. I had a board game night lose three people in two weeks because they all got different shifts at the same warehouse. No drama, just scheduling. That's the part nobody talks about. The silence after everyone stops replying hits harder than any argument.

You ever seen a game group just evaporate like that? My buddy had a D&D group that was solid for two years, four of them met at a comic shop every Thursday. Then one guy got a night shift, another moved in with his girlfriend, the third joined a softball league, and the fourth just stopped coming with no warning. He tried posting on a forum and a Facebook group, got two replies, one guy showed up thirty minutes late and left because they didn't play his favorite edition. It took him six months to get a new regular crew together, and even then it was a different vibe entirely.
