Saw a guy complain about setup time for Gloomhaven and it hit me different

Overheard some kid at the game shop last night saying how a 20 minute setup kills the whole vibe. Made me think back to when we used to spend all afternoon just sorting miniatures and reading rulebooks with zero complaints. Has anyone else noticed new players getting way more impatient with long games than we used to be?

Is that kid gonna have a meltdown if his phone battery dies during a game too? Back in the day we spent half the time just figuring out what the dice colors meant and called it a good afternoon. Guess some folks prefer their board games to be more like fast food than a home cooked meal.

Man just gotta embrace the ritual or get some organizers. I keep all my Gloomhaven stuff in a tackle box, takes me maybe 5 minutes to set up now. That kid probably never had to read a single page out of a rulebook before YouTube.

Got a buddy who swears by a fishing tackle box for Gloomhaven too, says it cut his setup time to under five minutes. Reminds me of the time I spent three hours organizing a D&D box back in the day, color coding dice by spell level for each player. Some folks just like the process and others want to jump straight into rolling dice and making big moves.
