Seeing my roommate finally get why I love worker placement games
I've been trying to get my roommate into deeper board games for months. Last night, we played Lords of Waterdeep, and something clicked for him. He started planning moves ahead and blocking my plans. His eyes lit up when he finished a quest chain for big points. It was a small win, but it made our game night so much better. Now he's asking to play again next weekend. Have you had a moment where someone suddenly got into a game type?

Actually, I just read a blog post about that "aha moment" in board games. The writer called it the click when strategy makes sense, not just rules. Your story about Lords of Waterdeep is a perfect example. That shift from following steps to actually planning and blocking is huge. It turns a game from a task into a real competition. Seeing someone get that is the best part of teaching games.
