That $40 dice tray I bought on a whim turned out to be a lifesaver

I was at a local con in Cincinnati last fall and saw this handmade wooden dice tray with a velvet lining. It was $40 which felt like a lot for something I could just use a box lid for. But I kept knocking dice off the table during games of Eldritch Horror and it was driving me nuts. So I grabbed it and honestly it changed everything. No more dice rolling off onto the floor or under the couch. Plus it keeps the game area tidy and everyone at the table can see the rolls clearly. Has anyone else found a random accessory that made a bigger difference than you expected?

Oh man, that's funny you mention that because my friend Dave had a similar thing happen with a dice tower. He picked up this cheap plastic one at a thrift store for like five bucks, thought it was just a goofy decoration. But now he refuses to play any game without it because he used to have this habit of flicking his dice too hard and they'd end up in his drink or on the floor behind the TV. It's actually pretty wild how a little thing like that can save so much hassle during a game night.

Man I mean is it really that serious? Like yeah dice flying off the table is annoying but $40 and calling it a lifesaver feels like a lot for a little wooden tray. I just use a cake pan from the dollar store and it works fine.

@young.kim your friend Dave sounds like my kinda guy, that dice tower thing is perfect. It's funny how little stuff like that ends up solving a bigger problem you didn't even realize was bugging you. I've noticed that the best random purchases are the ones that just remove one tiny annoyance from your life, like how I bought a cheap little bowl for my keys by the front door and suddenly stopped losing them every morning. Or how my buddy spent $15 on a cable holder that clips to his desk and it stopped him from tripping over wires during late night gaming sessions. Those little fixes don't seem like much until you're not dealing with the frustration anymore. And yeah, @young.kim, that $40 dice tray is now a permanent fixture at my table, no regrets.
