The guy who explained the whole rulebook before setup at last month's game night

Spent 20 minutes listening to him describe every edge case and then nobody wanted to actually play, has anyone else dealt with the pre-game lecture type?

Rules exist for a reason though, saves arguing later.

Respectfully disagree though. Rules can definitely backfire and cause more arguing when they feel unfair or arbitrary. Like if the rule is "no talking during X time" but then someone gets a pass for being friends with the mod, that's just asking for drama. I've seen groups fall apart because people got sick of rules that didn't make sense or weren't applied evenly. Sometimes less structure lets people figure things out naturally without all the tension.

Yeah because no one's ever argued over a rule they didn't like.
