TIL board game geeks have strong opinions on snack choices during game night

Honestly, I never considered how chips could ruin card sleeves.

Val518's whole thing about banning snacks feels over the top. A bit of chip dust on a card isn't the end of the world, and you can always use cheaper sleeves for casual nights. The real problem is making people so nervous about snacks that they forget to have fun. It's a game, not a museum exhibit.

Protecting game components is a must for serious players. Greasy chip residue ruins card sleeves and boards fast. Clean hands don't help when crumbs spread all over the table. Fixing damaged game pieces costs cash and spoils the fun. It shows respect for the money spent and the time together. Banning messy snacks lets everyone keep playing without worry.

Messy snacks are just part of the fun, really. Clean hands are more important than banning chips.
