Vent: My obsession with fancy dice trays wasted $40 on Etsy
I bought a handmade wooden dice tray with velvet lining from a shop on Etsy for $40 because I thought it would make my game nights feel more professional. Got it last week and the velvet started peeling off after just two uses during a D&D session. Now I just use a cheap felt-lined box from Dollar Tree that works way better. Has anyone else fallen for overpriced accessories that turned out to be junk?

Dude, I got burned on a "premium" leather dice bag once. $35 and the stitching came apart after like a month. I swear half this stuff is just fancy packaging for the same cheap garbage. My girlfriend's old Crown Royal bag is still holding up better than anything I've bought online.

$35 for a "premium" leather dice bag? That's not premium, that's bargain basement pricing, man. Real leather crafting costs way more than that, like minimum $50-60 just for materials and labor on a decent pouch. You probably got bonded leather or that pressed leather dust stuff they try to pass off as real. Crown Royal bags are actually a legit comparison though, they're made from a thick velvet-like material that's surprisingly durable. I've got a buddy who's been using the same one as his go-to dice bag for like 8 years now. The stitching on those cheap "premium" items is always the first thing to go because they use machines and cheap thread instead of hand stitching with waxed stuff. Next time check if the seller shows close ups of the stitching or mentions the leather type specifically, if they're vague about it just move on.

$40 for a dice tray that self-destructs in two sessions is either a scam or a really weird magic item. Guess the velvet had a low saving throw against basic use.
