Visited Gen Con and noticed a weird divide between eurogamers and ameritrash fans

I was at Gen Con last month and saw this guy refuse to even look at a copy of Terraforming Mars because it had dice in it. On the other hand, a group nearby was arguing that games with too much strategy are just work. Do you think the split between these camps is real or just online noise?

Nah, I actually disagree. Dice can add a fun push-your-luck element to the right game. But TM is already tight enough without more randomness.
